Due Diligence for Investors in Giga-tronics Inc.
We have linked below a company press release issued today as well as an article by Tomi Kilgore at Market Watch, both discussing the software agreement signed between Giga-tronics and Lockheed Martin. We also included an article from Capital Cube with the company’s latest financial statement from the period ending September 30, 2015.
Our View: Inking a deal with a company like Lockheed Martin is huge news for any micro-cap company. GIGA has/had a market cap under $20 million. Whenever this kind of success happens to a small company the market generally reacts with a healthy share price increase. The future market for aviation security will no doubt grow and be profitable for some companies.
What we don’t know at this point is the valuation of the agreement and how it will eventually impact Giga-tronics bottom line. GIGA has been able to raise its revenue from $14 million to $18 million over the past two fiscal years but sales have been soft so far this year. There have been no profits during the last three years either.
The new agreement between Lockheed and GIGA is an important development for the company and they deserve kudos for landing the Lockheed business. That being said, investors may want to heed the “don’t buy into the peak’ adage and wait for the dust to settle.
